Seam separations

A lifting seam can often be re-bonded if the surrounding vinyl still has flex in it.

Fitting leaks

Leaks at skimmers, returns and lights are usually gasket or faceplate problems, not liner problems.

Wrinkle assessment

Wrinkles are a symptom. We check for groundwater and floor washout before blaming the vinyl.

If we cannot see the hole, we find it. Dye testing and pressure testing come before any patch.

Patch or replace a liner

Patch it

Vinyl is still soft and flexible, the pool is under about ten years old, and the damage is a clean, isolated tear.

Replace it

Vinyl is faded, brittle and stiff, or you have patched three times in two seasons. New tears will keep appearing.

Look deeper first

Repeated tears in the same area usually mean something behind the liner is failing. Patching that is a treadmill.

Liner repair questions

Ask us a liner repair question

How long does an underwater patch last?

On healthy vinyl, years. Often the rest of the liner life. On brittle vinyl, sometimes a single season.

Do you have to drain the pool?

Almost never, and we avoid it. Draining a vinyl pool risks shrinking the liner and floating the shell.

Will the patch be visible?

Slightly. We match pattern stock where we can, but a patch on a printed floor is never invisible.

How do I know the liner is the leak?

A bucket test compares pool loss to evaporation. If you are losing more, we come out and find the source.

What does a repair cost?

A single located patch is a modest service call. Leak detection is priced separately when the hole has to be found.
